Marian serves as Burning Man Project’s first Chief Executive Officer. She first attended Burning Man in 1995, met the organizers in the fall of 1996, and in 1997 helped found the contemporary Burning Man organization. Her current focus is leading the organization’s nonprofit programming to support the growing global cultural movement based on Burning Man’s ethos.


Marian holds a BA in Creative Writing from Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland and an MFA in photography from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. She is a founding board member of the Black Rock Arts Foundation and Black Rock Solar. Marian was a project manager for a software development firm when she first arrived as a participant at Burning Man in 1995.
