Jacob is the co-founder and CEO at NewLimit, a biotechnology company developing epigenetic reprogramming therapeutics. Previously, he was a Principal Investigator and Computational Fellow at Calico, where he led research on repurposing developmental programs to restore youthful gene expression in aging cells. His work also explored how aging manifests across mammalian cell types, stem cell aging, and advanced methods for time lapse imaging and single-cell RNA sequencing.
Jacob earned a Ph.D. from the University of California, San Francisco, as part of the NSF Center for Cellular Construction, under advisors Wallace Marshall and Andrew Brack. His thesis developed methods to track cell state changes over time using time lapse imaging, enabling the measurement of muscle stem cell activation rates and uncovering age-related changes in these cells.
Jacob works to push the boundaries of aging research and regenerative medicine, focusing on novel therapeutic approaches to combat age-related decline at the cellular level.
