Matthew is a neurosurgeon who helped turn brain-computer interfaces from lab science into human medicine. As Neuralink's head of surgery, he developed BCI implantation methods across multiple model organisms, then brought them to people, personally performing every one of Neuralink's initial human implant surgeries at clinical trial sites in the US, UK, and Canada. He also runs an active neurosurgery practice in San Francisco and advises early-stage companies building the next generation of surgical technology.
