Trevor is an artist who engages in photography, writing, sculpture, and engineering, among other disciplines. His work has been shown in exhibitions around the world including the Smithsonian Museum of American Art, Carnegie Museum of Art, Fondazione Prada, the Barbican Centre, Vienna Secession, and Protocinema Istanbul. He has participated in group exhibitions at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Tate Modern, and other venues.

His writing has been profiled in the New York Times, the New Yorker, the Wall Street Journal, as well as several other publications. 

Trevor has launched artwork into orbit in collaboration with Creative Time and MIT, contributed to the Academy Award-winning film Citizenfour, and displayed a sculpture in the exclusion zone in Fukushima, Japan. More recognition includes receiving the Electronic Foundation's Pioneer Award, the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize, and being named a MacArthur Fellow in 2017.
