“Impact-first investing can re-direct the power of capitalism toward helpful rather than harmful social and environmental outcomes.”
Financial Inclusion
Climate Change

Sarah is the founder and executive director of Prime Coalition, a public charity that partners with philanthropists to invest catalytic capital in extraordinary companies that combat climate change, have a high likelihood of achieving commercial success, and would otherwise have a difficult time raising sufficient financial support to achieve large-scale impact. The investment teams she’s launched, including Azolla Ventures and more, focus on supporting promising and impactful climate technology companies and projects with risk-tolerant capital from philanthropic individuals, foundations, and corporations. Her unique approach seeks to bridge funding gaps that prevent the deployment of groundbreaking solutions with the potential to address critical environmental and societal issues.

Prior to starting Prime in 2013, Sarah served as executive director and trustee at the Chesonis Family Foundation, a philanthropic organization dedicated to advancing groundbreaking energy research, development, and implementation. Sarah holds a Bachelor of Science degree in commerce from the University of Virginia and a Master of Science degree in technology and policy from MIT's Engineering Systems Division. Her outstanding contributions resulted in her induction into the Raven Society at the University of Virginia. She has been awarded the 2012 MIT Ronald I. Heller Entrepreneurship Grant, the 2014 Caltech Resonate Award, and the 2014 Echoing Green Fellowship. Her achievements caught the attention of publications, earning her a spot on MIT Technology Review's list of 35 Innovators Under 35 in 2014 and Forbes's 30 Under 30 in 2015.
