Philipp is a distinguished German economist and professor at Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid, where he specializes in monetary policy and business cycle theory. Born in 1980, he earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Münster before completing his PhD under Jesús Huerta de Soto in 2007. Philipp is a Fellow of the Ludwig von Mises Institute and serves on the scientific advisory board of its German branch, alongside affiliations with the Mont Pèlerin Society and Friedrich A. von Hayek Society. His seminal book, The Tragedy of the Euro (2010), critiques the Eurosystem and has been translated into 14 languages, earning widespread acclaim. He has authored or co-authored works like Deep Freeze: Iceland’s Economic Collapse and Die Ära Milei (2024), with publications in journals such as the Journal of Business Ethics and Independent Review. Philipp has received prestigious awards, including the Ludwig-Erhard Prize for Economic Journalism in 2016. Since 2017, he has chaired the board of Elementum International AG.
