Anton is an independent historian of invention. A visiting fellow at King’s College London, he was formerly Lecturer in Economic History there, and is the official historian of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (the subject of his first book, Arts and Minds: How the Royal Society of Arts Changed a Nation, published by Princeton University Press). He holds a Ph.D. in Political Economy from King’s College London and was a postdoctoral researcher at Brown University. His research focuses on the history and causes of innovation, especially during Britain’s Industrial Revolution. Through his work, he translates historical insights into practical policy proposals to encourage innovation today. Anton shares his research widely via his popular newsletter, Age of Invention.
